हम-वज़ादार संभलते रह गये
समझदार को इशारा काफी रहा
ऐतबार-ए-शम्स जलते गये
साहिर तेरा पिटारा काफी रहा
सुकून बा-परवाज़ गर्द गये
फ़लक का नज़ारा काफी रहा
फ़ितर रंग-ए-ख़्वाब नाहक़ गये
ऐतबार-ए-मुक़द्दर काफी रहा
मुनाजत के पैमाने खाली गये
रक़्क़ास का शरारा काफी रहा
इम्तेहान-ए-तार्रुफ़ जान अगर
ला-इल्मियत का सहारा काफी रहा।

smart people can read signs for their benefit

mutually dependable ones tried balancing
smart ones picked the signs to their benefit
while I burned myself in the sun of trust
o! magician your box full of wonders was enough
search for peace in my flight was a waste
but I had a good view of the horizon
was useless to run behind my instinct for colour of life
i should have just rested on my fate
measures of prayers remained un-fulfilling
more got fulfilled through the colourful dresses of dancers
if the purpose of life is to get me acquainted to tests
i better remain safe with my illiteracy.
